A halfling character might have grown up living on farm near Ptolus, traveling to the city weekly to deliver produce. Or perhaps you were part of a nomadic trading family, always on the move. If you lived in a halfling village, nearly any occupation was open to you. In any case, you are comfortable with nearly all other races, and have made many social contacts along the way.

Your race has no secret hidden past (that you know of), nor any longstanding grudges. However, you are an enterprising, curious people, and that motivates you. You are probably the most adaptable person you know. But not all halflings are simply jovial farmers. They can be shrewd businessmen, and one or two have been known to deal in the black market and other clandestine operations.

As a halfling adventurer coming to Ptolus, you might look to join a guild, amass sufficient treasure to buy a shop and settle down, exercise your curiosity to explore places no one has seen, or lift the spirits of your adventurous colleagues.
